The Dream Dog Program is our most comprehensive Board & Train experience, designed for dogs and owners who want lasting reliability, emotional stability, and real-world confidence — not just short-term obedience.

This program is best suited for thoughtful owners who want to truly share life with their dog. We’re not just teaching commands. We’re teaching dogs how to think, how to handle pressure, and how to make good choices when it matters.

During the program, your dog lives and trains in a real home environment with a professional trainer on private mountain acreage in Truckee. Training is intentionally immersive and mirrors real life — not a kennel or facility setting. Dogs learn through structured routines, balanced communication, and thoughtful exposure to the environments they often struggle with most, including quiet home settings, neighborhood walks, Tahoe trails, busy Reno areas, and higher-stimulus Bay Area and San Francisco environments.

Board & Train, when done right, remains the most effective path to true transformation because it provides what many dogs need before obedience can truly hold: consistency, clarity, and the opportunity to decompress. Many behavioral challenges aren’t caused by stubbornness or a lack of effort — they stem from confusion, emotional dysregulation, or unclear expectations. Just as importantly, this is not a “send your dog away and hope for the best” experience. Owner education is a core part of the program. Through mid-program lessons, detailed go-home coaching, and ongoing follow-up support, you’ll learn how the training works, how to communicate clearly with your dog, and how to confidently maintain progress once your dog is home.

Mid-Program Lesson(s)

You’ll step in mid-program for hands-on coaching sessions. These lessons teach you the communication system your dog is now fluent in, giving you the skills and confidence to work together seamlessly.

Go-Home Lesson

A 2–2.5 hour transition session held in your home. We walk you through everything your dog has learned, practice together in real-life scenarios, and ensure you’re fully prepared to maintain and build on their progress.

Follow-Up Lessons

Personalized 1-on-1 support after your dog returns home. These sessions reinforce skills, troubleshoot challenges, and help you continue momentum so the training lasts for years to come.

  • Our Dream Dog program at Skye's the Limit is a minimum of 5 weeks. While this might sound lengthy, it's designed to ensure your dog experiences real, lasting change. This time allows us to not only teach new skills but also make sure your dog masters them in real-world situations. The extended stay gives us the opportunity to work on your dog’s unique needs and lay a strong foundation for success. Plus, we’ll start showing you how to keep up the progress at home, so the results last a lifetime.

  • At Skye’s the Limit, we believe that successful training requires active involvement from both you and your dog. You’ll be involved from the very start of the program! After the initial boarding period, we begin incorporating you halfway through the board and train with a mid-way lesson where you’ll start learning the skills needed to reinforce your dog’s progress. We also provide a detailed go-home lesson when your dog returns, as well as follow-up sessions to ensure you’re fully equipped to maintain the training at home. Our goal is to train both ends of the leash, ensuring that you feel confident and supported in working with your dog every step of the way.
